Ninh Binh is about 90 km away from Ha Noi to the south. Ninh Binh shares the administative border with Ha Nam in the North, Nam Dinh in the East, the East Sea in the Southeast, Thanh Hoa in the West and Southwest, and Hoa Binh in the Northwest.

Ninh Binh province features numerous kinds of folk songs including Cheo (traditional opera) and Xam (an ancient folk art form performed by blind beggars) singing.Xam singing, a Vietnamese form of art aged centuries, has always been preserved as the nation’s delicate piece of culture to be admired by numerous tourists. “Hat Xam” or “Xam singing” has been mainly found in the countryside, and, expressed the optimism and love for life of the blind.
